Heres a great videos by SpywareTube.com to optimise removal of Spyware/Adware/Malware on your pc. Adware is a program, that adds multiple viruses to your computer. the program that did this to my computer is called ” smart antivirus XXXX “. ( replace the X with the current year) if you download this, instead of removing adware, it’ll add it. it added 3 programs to my computer. error cleaner, privacy protector, and spyware remover. Scan/Remove the virus from safe mode
Scanned with AVG/Malwarebytes yet?
They have specialised removal tools for certain trojans – you might need to identify which one you have to use.
Try removing the virus from safe mode (select that by tapping F8 while the PC is booting)
You could try make a 2nd admin account and run it from there
If you cant use the uninstaller then you will have to research on how to remove it manually.
tried add/remove programs?
Yes it is a category of programs that will do that.
Try a virus scan in safe mode.
If you still dont have any luck doing that try turning off any un-needed startup programs with msconfig/services.msc. The virus could have also installed itself as a non plug-and-play device driver that you would have to troubleshoot and remove manually.
DirectX isn’t a virus, its a component of Windows that allows the use of multimedia features.
If you scanned with 1 antivirus product and couldnt find anything you could always try another scan with a different product.
Also i dont have gpedit.msc because microsoft decided not to give it to vista home premium
I have AVG 9 and i scanned my whole comp.I have no virus but my start task manager button is missing? I have vista so it’s shows different buttons….and it’s not there
I go to freecomputerrepairguideDOTcom – covers a lot of this (clearing temp files, removing spyware/viruses and loads of other stuff), all free too. Sorted my computer out anyways…
